Closeout and Debriefing · Course Video

One video. It covers the five areas of closeout and who performs each step, the five question debrief at each phase end and at closeout, and the readiness check before the archive request. It ends with the same debrief applied to your own Academy work.

Key takeaway

While the video is in production, the written lesson covers the same content.

Check your judgment

Three situations from closeout. Pick what you would do.

  1. Question 1 of 3

The final invoice is out, unbilled is at $0, and the final cost is recorded. One receivable is 50 days old, and Accounting is following it under the AR Guide. Half the team starts on a new project next week. Do you hold the closeout debrief now or wait?

RightHold it now. The debrief needs the project’s results in hand and the team in the room, and both are true this week. The receivable keeps moving under the AR Guide.

Look againBy the time the payment arrives, the team has dispersed and the debrief runs on memory. The receivable keeps moving under the AR Guide without holding up the debrief.

  2. Question 2 of 3

In a debrief, a team member says, “Our coordination with the client went really well.” What do you do next?

RightAsk what the team actually did. The useful answer is a specific practice, such as a decision documented and sent to the client the same day, that the next team can repeat.

Look again“Good coordination” gives the next team nothing to use. Ask what the team actually did.

  3. Question 3 of 3

Every checklist item is complete except one: two team members still have project email in their inboxes. The client wants the project closed out this week. Do you request the archive zip?

RightNo. Resolve the open checklist item first, then ask Admin for the zip. The archive is the last step, and the record must be complete before it.

Look againAfter the zip, the project is no longer accessible in Centerline. The email cannot be added afterward.
