The Grace QA/QC process

Grace’s process as Grace wrote it, phase by phase, with the responsible party, the tool, and where to find it. Built from the 4 August 2026 Implementation deck, the 9 September 2026 Project Manager timeline, the Storytellers Timeline, and the Quality Control Form.

The 4 source documents

Grace publishes its QA/QC process in 4 documents. Every step on this page names the document it comes from, and quotes Grace where the wording is exact.

Three more files support them. The QA Prompts v1.0 (also as CSV) are what the design team checks its own work against. The BIM Quality Control Checklist is what the QC Reviewer checks the set against. It lives on Milo and is not on this site. The A3 Template and the A3 Report example show what the Storyteller composes at closeout.

Roles, as Grace defines them

Grace defines the roles in this way. Slide 9 of the Implementation deck uses short codes. PM is the Project Manager, ST the Storyteller, PR the Peer Reviewer (the QC Reviewer), and AOR the Architect of Record.

The process, phase by phase

The 7 blocks below follow the columns of the Project Manager timeline, in Grace’s order. Each block gives the responsible party, the action in Grace’s words, the tool, where the tool lives, and the Storyteller’s parallel step where the Storytellers Timeline adds one.

Who chooses the QC Reviewer

Authority

The Project Manager chooses the QC Reviewer for each phase and sets the review dates. The Storyteller does not choose or assign the reviewer. The Storyteller books the reviewer on the dates the Project Manager sets, puts those dates on both calendars, and sends the QC Form and the checklists.

Grace makes the Project Manager the accountable owner for quality, and gives the Project Manager the decision on extra reviews. Every Grace line on booking the reviewer ties the Storyteller to the Project Manager. No Grace document gives the Storyteller authority to choose the reviewer. At the end of CD, the Project Manager chooses a reviewer from outside the project team and outside the office.

Both Module 11 videos say the Storyteller schedules the QC Reviewer. In this course, schedule means book the dates that the Project Manager set. Grace’s wording for the booking step is below.

“In conjunction with your PM create your QC schedule and identify the reviewer for each phase.”Storytellers Timeline, Storyteller Project Management
“The PM works with the Storyteller to schedule a QC reviewer before the end of the CD phase.”PM timeline, Quality Control

The Quality Control Form

The Quality Control Form is the QA/QC record for the project. It travels with the set to the QC Reviewer and the Architect of Record at every phase. The Project Manager completes it, reviewer names included. The Storyteller updates it before each review.

“To be completed at each phase (TYP. SD/DD/CD Phases; Addenda; ASIs; Early Release Package; etc.), Provide adequate time for review and red-line pickup before the issue dates.”Quality Control Form, header

The QA Prompts
